It's been a while!

I have been extreamly busy and haven't had any spare time to write a blog post. I finally have a break and feel like I should post something.

I'll try to give you guys an update on my life without talking too much.

If you've hung out with me in the past week, you have probably heard me complain about the things I gave up for lent. I decided to give up fast food, pizza, and regular pop (I started drinking diet instead). I got to the point where I was eating a lot of fast food when I went on break from work because it was so cheap and fast. So far I haven't given in except on Sunday (I've heard that Sundays don't count?)

I just realized how much I enjoy talking about food on this blog :)

So I'll continue...
Kelly and I have a break from classes at 12:30 and go out for lunch together sometimes. (Except when she secretly gets pizza by herself so I won't get jealous).  Last week we decided to go to the school cafeteria! I took it for granted as a freshman. We went to Bigelow, which is the cafeteria with the most variety. I'm not even sure what I ate but it was delicious! I'm pretty sure Kelly swiped a cookie for her purse too! nice move :) That was the first time I have been back to the cafeteria since freshman year.

Kelly also came home this week with a present waiting for me on my bed...

It was a huge picture of the hungry caterpillar! I love it. It is now hanging on my door next to an elephant who's favorite color is pink, a butterfly (also, both from Kelly), A picture of my roommates, and a christmas card from the Spucks.

My roommate Ari sent me this really awesome picture of Michael Jackson made completely out of blow pop wrappers that she saw hanging on the wall at someone's apartment. I wish it was on my wall!

Even though Megan specifically told me to stop talking about her in my blog, I just feel bad not including her after mentioning all of my other roommates. So lets see... how has Megan impacted my life this week? .. Oh yeah! I was taking notes in my class on Thursday and my teacher starts putting examples of past assignments that people have done and I see Megan Trout's resume up on the big screen in front of my class. I thought it was funny that the teacher didn't black out her name. I thought she probably should have blacked out the address, phone number etc. but she didn't. haha
It's hard to see (click to enlarge) , but this is Megan's awesome references. :)

The second half of my week was pretty rough. I recieved news that my Uncle Paul had passed away. It was such a shock to my whole family. I'm still having trouble wrapping my mind around it. I can't imagine having family get togethers without him. I was able to make it home to visit with family durring the weekend. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it back for the funeral today. I'm really sad that I couldn't make it home and be with my family today. R.I.P. Uncle Paul.

I spent so much time in the car this past weekend. I had an interview in Troy on Friday, worked in Kalamazoo on Friday Night, Then Amy's 21st birthday on Sunday so I drove back to Westland Saturday night and out to Ann Arbor to celebrate, then back to Westland on Sunday morning, and finally back to Kalamazoo on Sunday night. Luckily Kelly did some of the driving!

Needless to say, I'm sick of being in a car.

Even with all of the chaos, I had a great time celebrating Amy's birthday in Ann Arbor. We went to a place called Fifth Quarter. I was really happy to get a chance to see everyone. I missed them so much!
I feel like this picture describes the night... all over the place.

I also ran into Olivia Senia at Fifth Quarter and I told her I would give her a shout out in my blog, so here it is! Hi Olivia! :)

P.S. My mom told me how to make stuffed mushrooms yesterday over the phone and they turned out Awesome.
(They look gross, but they were delicious)

Back to Reality

It has finally hit me that Spring Break is over. I had class from 9:30a.m. - 8: p.m. (with a few breaks, but it's still tiring.) I didn't feel so well when I woke up this morning and thought about not going to class, but my New Years Resolution was to not miss a class, so I forced myself to go.

side note: When I told my friend Rodney that my New Years Resolution was to not miss any class, he said that I should give up following my New Years Resolution for Lent. I thought it was clever.

Luckily, I didn't have to take any midterms today like some people did. I only had a couple of assignments to turn in. I have a class with Megan on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we both lost track of time and I was almost late. I made it to class on time with about one minute to spare. (Not that the teacher would have noticed if I was late) I have to make a magazine cover for that class with my picture on it. Let me know if you have any suggestions of good magazines to do. He gave examples of Time, and Life magazine but I'd like to do something different. (...Nathan, no inappropriate answers please.)

After that class was over, I went to my internet marketing class and tweeted for most of the class. We had a speaker come in. His name is Charlie Wollborg. He spoke to our class about some pretty interesting things. If you have an Iphone, or Android you should check out squareup.com and they will send you a free gadget that you can plug into your phone that lets you accept credit cards. I can't believe they have technology to do this, yet WMU still only accepts cash at the on campus cafes. We learn that you must keep up with technological advances in almost every business class we take here, so it has always bothered me that even the Business College doesn't accept credit at their cafe.
After the speaker left, I told Ashlie that I would put her in my blog if she smiled for a picture... so here is your shout out Ashlie :)

The only other interesting thing that happened to me today, was when I got the mail. I opened the mailbox and there was a key inside (which means we haven't gotten our mail in a while and they had to move it to a bigger box) There were about 5 Wall Street Journals in there, (I'm not sure why they keep sending me them, I didn't renew my subscription) so I recycled them.

There was also this letter

A handwritten letter? with no return address? and a cute USA stamp? I assumed it was from our apartment complex or a small local business trying to reach out to the community. I was wrong! It was AT&T sending out flyers. It tricked me into not throwing it away with the rest of the junk mail. I looked closer and realized that the writing on the front of the envelope is actually printed on. I almost can't even tell. And the fact that the postage isn't printed on the envelope like most of my other junk mail really threw me off. Props to you AT&T, you got me! I still don't need your high speed internet though, I get it free with my apartment.
This was the flyer enclosed. That writing that looks like pen is also printed.

I also noticed a letter sent to Kelly from Megan? (They are roommates) I still don't fully understand that one, so I'll just skip that story.

I got the new issue of Cosmo since Amy gave me a free subscription. (thanks again) I'm excited to smell the perfumes in it.

The last thing I got in the mail requires some background information. I was reading my friend Chelsea Kirchoff's Blog not too long ago and saw this post. Optimus Prime. You should check it out if you have time. She made a card for a little boy who was diagnosed with Leukemia. His name is Logan and he loves cards. She posted his address on her blog so I decided to make him a card and send it to him.

Here's the card I sent (sorry it's backwards, I took it in my photobooth)

It took me forever to draw all of those stick figures, but I was happy with the card when I was done with it. Here is his address if you want to send him a card. I know he would love it.

Logan Pledger
6478 County Road 43
Clanton, AL 35045

The last letter I pulled out of the mailbox was from the Pledger family. Here is the thank you card they sent me.

It reads: "Kim, Thanks so much for sending Logan a card. He hangs them on his bedroom wall. He was very excited to recieve it and enjoyed your joke :) God Bless, Pledger family

PS His Birthday is July 21st :) ,(because I asked him when his bday was)
He thought your artwork on the card was great. He said you must of worked hard on it :)

Thank you
Logan Pledger"

I'm so happy I sent this card. I'm glad to know he got it.

Welcome back Roommates!

My roommates all went on Alternative Spring Breaks this past week. ASB is a volunteer program where you donate your time during Spring break to helping others. Ari went to Missouri and worked on houses. Kelly went to Georgia to help people get their lives back on track by helping jobless people rework their resumés and helped people become self sufficient. Megan went to North Carolina to plant hundreds of trees. I'm glad to say they are all back in Kalamazoo finally! I missed them. It's been fun hearing about all of their trips.

Kelly got me a really cool glass coke bottle from the Coca-Cola museum

She also brought back the Family Feud board game (which I'm really excited about), the original BopIt (Which Megan is really excited about), Phase 10, and an Etch-a-sketch.  Megan and I both played BopIt for a little while and I realized I'm not as good as I used to be. Then I messed around on the Etch-a-sketch for a little and this is what resulted.

Now I'm going to make Megan cover up the blonde in my hair. She's never dyed anyone's hair before so she's excited. We'll see how it turns out :P
