side note: When I told my friend Rodney that my New Years Resolution was to not miss any class, he said that I should give up following my New Years Resolution for Lent. I thought it was clever.
Luckily, I didn't have to take any midterms today like some people did. I only had a couple of assignments to turn in. I have a class with Megan on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we both lost track of time and I was almost late. I made it to class on time with about one minute to spare. (Not that the teacher would have noticed if I was late) I have to make a magazine cover for that class with my picture on it. Let me know if you have any suggestions of good magazines to do. He gave examples of Time, and Life magazine but I'd like to do something different. (...Nathan, no inappropriate answers please.)
After that class was over, I went to my internet marketing class and tweeted for most of the class. We had a speaker come in. His name is Charlie Wollborg. He spoke to our class about some pretty interesting things. If you have an Iphone, or Android you should check out squareup.com and they will send you a free gadget that you can plug into your phone that lets you accept credit cards. I can't believe they have technology to do this, yet WMU still only accepts cash at the on campus cafes. We learn that you must keep up with technological advances in almost every business class we take here, so it has always bothered me that even the Business College doesn't accept credit at their cafe.
After the speaker left, I told Ashlie that I would put her in my blog if she smiled for a picture... so here is your shout out Ashlie :)
The only other interesting thing that happened to me today, was when I got the mail. I opened the mailbox and there was a key inside (which means we haven't gotten our mail in a while and they had to move it to a bigger box) There were about 5 Wall Street Journals in there, (I'm not sure why they keep sending me them, I didn't renew my subscription) so I recycled them.
There was also this letter
A handwritten letter? with no return address? and a cute USA stamp? I assumed it was from our apartment complex or a small local business trying to reach out to the community. I was wrong! It was AT&T sending out flyers. It tricked me into not throwing it away with the rest of the junk mail. I looked closer and realized that the writing on the front of the envelope is actually printed on. I almost can't even tell. And the fact that the postage isn't printed on the envelope like most of my other junk mail really threw me off. Props to you AT&T, you got me! I still don't need your high speed internet though, I get it free with my apartment.
This was the flyer enclosed. That writing that looks like pen is also printed.
I also noticed a letter sent to Kelly from Megan? (They are roommates) I still don't fully understand that one, so I'll just skip that story.
I got the new issue of Cosmo since Amy gave me a free subscription. (thanks again) I'm excited to smell the perfumes in it.
The last thing I got in the mail requires some background information. I was reading my friend Chelsea Kirchoff's Blog not too long ago and saw this post. Optimus Prime. You should check it out if you have time. She made a card for a little boy who was diagnosed with Leukemia. His name is Logan and he loves cards. She posted his address on her blog so I decided to make him a card and send it to him.
Here's the card I sent (sorry it's backwards, I took it in my photobooth)
It took me forever to draw all of those stick figures, but I was happy with the card when I was done with it. Here is his address if you want to send him a card. I know he would love it.

The last letter I pulled out of the mailbox was from the Pledger family. Here is the thank you card they sent me.
It reads: "Kim, Thanks so much for sending Logan a card. He hangs them on his bedroom wall. He was very excited to recieve it and enjoyed your joke :) God Bless, Pledger family
PS His Birthday is July 21st :) ,(because I asked him when his bday was)
He thought your artwork on the card was great. He said you must of worked hard on it :)
Thank you
Logan Pledger"
I'm so happy I sent this card. I'm glad to know he got it.
You know what's funny? I just got a thank you card in the mail today from the Pledger's too, but it was just short, I also asked when his bday was (and they didn't reply), and Logan definitely didn't sign it lolololol HOW FUNNY.
ReplyDeleteI love getting mail though. It's so much fun and such a little surprise. An email will never have the same feel as real mail. Well, mostly because it's no real, but I like tangible things. AT&T is clever for that one for sure, but your card really is awesome. I'm glad you made one, Kim! Thanks for the shout out too! It made me smile! :)
I'm glad you went to class even though you weren't feeling up to it.
I hope you feel better.
As for your magazine, pick a magazine layout that goes hand in hand with your personality. I wouldn't suggest time; it's too FORMAL and conservative. Not that you aren't formal (you can be), but pick something that's fun and bright and bubbly and colorful. That's just my suggestion. I laughed when you said nothing inappropriate, Nathan. SO TRUE.
I didn't read the whole thing...I stopped at "I thought it was clever" in mini font....when I read it I thought of the boy from "the Middle" and laughed to myself.
ReplyDeleteIm tired and will read your blog after ym exam and Econ HW tomorrow lol <3 ya Kim :)
Kim you should put your face on forbes or hustler lol
ReplyDeleteAww your friend Ashlie looks nice! If I wasn't a homo I would want to court her. lol
Haha Kim..that letter thing is funny. They are getting better and advertising!
You know what Kim...you are so talented at ART! I was always jealous of your head that you carved out of Ivory soap in Humanities lol
