School's out for the Summer!

(I Love this song!)

Yesterday was my last day of school. I'm so relieved to be done! I feel pretty good about this semester.

I had a GREAT last day of school. I started my day off with a final exam that only took me about a half hour to finish. After I finished my final, Jake and I went to go see Source Code. It was such a good movie. I recommend seeing it. It made me tear up at a few parts.

After the movie, we met up with some of Jake's family to go rock climbing. We went to Climb Kalamazoo which was way bigger than I was expecting. I've climbed a few rock walls back when I was younger but they have always been hooked up to a rope that automatically catches you. This time I learned how to belay and how to tie a figure 8 knot. We also got special rock climbing shoes that were extremely small but ended up being a big help once we started climbing.

Thanks to Jake's cousin Shannon, I got some pictures of the fun. (sorry about all of dust in the pictures)

I had a blast! I was surprised that I could even make it to the top. My muscles are pretty sore today, but it was worth it. I can't wait to go back.

Happy Birthday Dayna!
One of my dear friends Dayna Krushlin turned 21 recently and had her celebration last night. It was a lot of fun. I'm glad that Jessica, Jake, and my roommates were able to go. I was also happy to see Ron there. What a great way to end the school year.

It's Almost Summer!

This week is finals week for WMU students.

I've been overwhelmed working on group projects, take-home finals, and studying for exams. I can't wait for next week to get here! Today I was able to turn in a take-home final which means I only have two more classes to worry about this semester.

Side-note: I never realized how funny smart phone's auto correct can be. Megan was trying to text me about a final that we had to turn in. It went something like this...

megan: "I just saw that thing about tadpoles" me: "what?" me:"did tadpoles have to do with creative strategy class?" megan: "tadpoles" megan:"tag lines!"

She didn't text me back right away and during that time of confusion I was convinced that I forgot to do a random "tadpole" section of my final project. I'm glad we got that straightened out.

After I turned in my project I came home and started getting a headache. Any time the weather changes I can pretty much count on getting a headache. I took some medicine and Megan decided that we were going to have some pizza (even though everyone has leftovers from Easter in the fridge) I've also been wanting some sweet potato fries lately. I decided that I was going to make some.

I started with a sweet potato...

I peeled the sweet potato (I was surprised to see that we even had a peeler)...
Then I chopped the sweet potato in half and cut it into fry shaped pieces and shook them in a ziplock full of a salt, cinnamon, and olive oil (just enough to coat the fries)...
Then I added some Famous Dave's Steak Burger seasoning to them after spreading them out on a aluminum foil lined cookie sheet. I preheated the oven to 425 degrees...
You are supposed to turn the fries every 10 minutes while they cook. I forgot to do that and some of mine got a little burnt. I cooked it for 30 minutes and took them out of the oven...
They looked like REAL FRIES!!!
and they tasted SO good.

Mom, you should make these, you guys will love them!

My friend Kara Hensley got this awesome picture of a rainbow while it was hailing out today. Michigan weather never ceases to amaze me.

Happy End of Lent!

Lent is over which means:

  • I will be able to poke people back on facebook
  • I can eat pizza
  • I can drink regular pop
  • I'm allowed to eat fast food
  • I can put butter on my popcorn
I know I gave up random things for lent. I decided to give these things up just to see if I could do it. I was hoping it would help me eat healthier. It's now Easter and I still find myself drinking diet pop. I've learned to like it over the past month. I'm sticking to eating less fast food too, even though Lent is over.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

My mom told me I should update my blog. I've been really busy with group projects for classes, finals, and work so I haven't been doing it lately. I figured I could at least tell you what I got in my easter basket :)

Yes, I'm 20 years old and still get an Easter basket.

I drove to Westland this morning after I woke up. The Easter bunny had a basket waiting for me when I arrived. The basket was filled with Jelly beans, malt eggs, and some reese's bunnies. There were plastic eggs filled with cute headphones, money, earrings and scratch-off tickets. I kept digging through the plastic grass and found some eyeshadow and colorful socks too! Who knew that my Easter baskets would get cooler as I got older?

If you have hung out with me recently, you may have heard me mention O.P.I.'s nail polish called Shatter. I've been trying to find a bottle ever since I heard of it. I wanted to try it. It is black nail polish that you paint over a regular nail polish. The black polish cracks when it dries to show the base color through the cracks. I've seen advertisements for it everywhere but it has been sold out at every store I checked. My mom was able to find a bottle. From what Amy tells me, she jumped though hoops to get it and ended up finding it at a sketchy beauty supply shop. I found a bottle in the bottom of my basket!

It's pretty cool. I wanted to see what colors looked cool under it so my grandma agreed to let me use her hand as a model. I painted different colors on each finger and added the shatter top coat to each one. The white looks pretty cool. I decided to have a photo shoot with her when I was done. Here are some pictures.

                          (notice the nails)

I was glad to be able to visit with family (including Amy). I had a delicious dinner. I even ate dessert that my dad made. He made a little cake that looked like a bunny.  I made him take a picture with it, even though it was a little girly.

It tasted so good!

LUDA!

I meant to tell you about the Ludacris concert the day it actually happened, but I was too tired to blog, so I'll tell you now.

A few days ago, I was finishing up a project for school that took me longer than expected. I ended up pulling an all-nighter. I got the project done and I feel like I should get a great grade on it. Prior to that, I made plans with my friend Matt to play disc golf during my break from classes. I started playing last year when my friend Mike got me my very own disc and donated his old putter to me (yes, there are putters in disc golf)! Nathan also gave me a disc so now I feel like a pro. I am usually really terrible at the game, I just enjoy being outdoors and it is free to play, so why not? I was actually surprised this time. I wasn't throwing them straight into the trees like I usually do! (well, for the most part) There was one hole that I birdied that Matt Bogied! I did a victory dance when it actually went in the net from so far away. I was so excited! Here's the one picture we took. It proves that I pulled an all-nighter the night before.

After disc golfing, I went home before my 3:30 class. We had to meet to brainstorm for a group project. Megan and I both have the same class and we're in the same group. We didn't feel like driving up to school again. We decided to get ahold of our group members and see if they would collaborate online instead. It worked! We added them to a facebook group and were able to livechat online. Megan was able to make dinner while participating in the group discussion  simultaneously Oh how times are changing.

After our "class" I needed to take a nap. Otherwise, there was no way I'd be able to make it through the concert. We bought tickets for the Ludacris concert at WMU months ago. Tickets were only 8 dollars. I didn't have high expectations for the concert because I didn't think Miller Auditorium could be that much fun. I was wrong. Everyone had a blast! He sang all of our favorite songs. (My roommates and I refreshed on our LUDA lyrics before going.) Our friends Tajh, Jessica and Mikey also went with us. It was really great to have a night that all of us could get dressed up and hang out as a big group. With our busy schedules, that can be rare these days.
Jessica and Mikey are not pictured, but I swear they were there :)
